“OLD SOLDIERS NEVER DIE, THEY JUST FADE AWAY”
Douglas Keith Washington was born September 25, 1957, in Allendale County, South Carolina to the late Ellie Washington and the late Myrtle Rebecca Wright.
At an early age, he joined Hodges Chapel and accepted Christ as his Savior.
“DK” as he was affectionately called was educated in the public schools of Allendale County. He made sure his time was well spent in his home, church, community, and abroad. In 1974, Douglas enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He served faithfully until he was Honorable Discharge, in 1999. Later in life, he became employed with South Carolina Department of Corrections (Allendale) earning the rank as Captain.
Douglas was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Celeste Washington on October 7, 2017.
Anyone who knew Douglas knew he was full of love, and laughter. His sense of humor could brighten anyone's day.
As he enters his new life, he will be greeted with love from his parents, (3) Sisters, and (4) Brothers.
On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, Douglas quietly moved into his last great adventure.
Mourning his loss, yet rejoicing in his life's legacy are: his loving and devoted wife Celeste Washington of the home.; (1) Daughter: Rebecca Washington, Barnwell, SC; (3) Sons: Douglas (Shureen) Ransom, Atlanta, GA, Kyle Washington, Catawba, NC , and Edward (Frances) Washington, Fort Johnson, LA; (1) Brother: Raymond (Michelle) Washington, Trenton, NJ; (1) Loving and devoted niece: Jeanette Mitchell, Fairfax, SC; (2) Brother-In-Law: Darryl (Monique) Brown, Mount Pleasant, SC, Samuel (Shannon) Brown, Jackson, MS; (1) Sister-In-law: Martha (Trenton) Brown, Garner, NC; (3) Step-children. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
