Lucille Nevora Alston, 86, of Richmond, affectionately known as “Cille” was quietly and peacefully called to her Heavenly Father's house on October 27, 2023. Lucille was born in Nash County, N.C. on July 10, 1937 to the late Samuel and Annie Ruth Harrison, but raised by her grandparents the late Garfield and Dorothy Lynch. Lucille was educated in the public schools of Nash County. At an early age of eleven, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Swift Creek Baptist Church. Later on February 28, 2016, she became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church (She loved her pastor Lance Watson). At age of seventeen, Lucille met James “Dick” Alston and they were blessed with five daughters, Sharon, Rita, Barbara, Kim and Wanda. Lucille worked as a waitress most of her life until moving to Northern Virginia to help with her sister and brother-in-law's daycare and janitorial services.
“Cille” was known for her cooking and open-door policy. For her home was always open to family, her kid's friends, and neighbors. She will be remembered for her kind, sweet, and loving spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Willie “Dick” Alston, four brothers and three sisters, Samuel Franklin Harrison, Charles L. Harrison, James Harrison, William Harrison, Sally Alston, Essie Peters and Angeline Baker, and son-in-law Herb Jones, grandchildren, Tammie, Quincy and Ah'Maurie. Lucille “Cille” Alston leaves to cherish her fond memories, six daughters, Sharon (Ruben), Marilyn, Rita (Everette), Barbara, Kim and Wanda (Tony); three sons, Charles (Daisy), Sherman, and Randy; seventeen grandchildren, Angel, Alesha, Aaron, Aubrey, Antwan, Atira, LaKendrick, Greg, Myisha, Angel, Charles Jr., Lance, Shaunte, Emari, Xavien, Kelley and Danielle; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Rosala Bellamy (Billy), Agnes Williams, Shirley Crowell, and Linda Atkins; one brother, Samuel Harrison (Mary); four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews; cousins, other relatives and friends and extended family. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Fresh Anointing Cathedral, 3001 2nd Ave. Interment private.
