Maurice Jerome Butler was born on September 24, 1969, to George Tripp and Viviene Christopher in Palatka, Florida. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Florida Gators and Dallas Cowboys play football, and he loved reading the word of God.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Antoinette Mays-Butler, daughter, Laquita Butler, sons, Patrice Edwards, Tevin Edwards, stepchildren, Shavon Rogers (Chris), Willie Freeman III, Hosea Freeman (Brandi), mother, Viviene Christopher, siblings, Frankie Butler, Wallace Tripp, Spencer Christopher Jr., Roy Tripp, Dorothy Tripp-Evans, Mary Tripp, Victory (Reginald) Roberts, Constancha Christopher, Marian Christopher, Helen (Cephas) Mack, 20 grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends
The Butler family will receive friends and the community 5-6 p.m., Friday, November 17, at the Felix Coleman Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 18, at the Felix Coleman Memorial Chapel, 139 N. Main Street in Hastings.
