Christina Johnson Goodman

Miss. Christina Johnson was born in Dothan, Alabama on October 23,1968 to James Edward Johnson and Gerlean (Harris) Johnson.

Her primary education commenced at Wicksburg High School, Newton, AL. A proud member of the Class of 1987.

Christina was known for her bright “Cheerie” smile. She had that kind of affect to brighten up your day, even when she was going through. To know her, was to love her. She was known to her immediate family as “Soakie.”

Before finishing high school, she worked at Burger King, Wesley Manor as a PCA and was later employed at Southeast Medical Center (S. E. Health) as a PCA

Christina, realizing that hard work really pays off, worked full-time and attended George C. Wallace Community College (Wallace College-Dothan) to fulfill her life-long dream to become a nurse, She received her LPN license and worked on Two-East at Southeast Medical Center for thirteen years and had to stop, due to health issues.

Christina was a faithful and devoted member of the St. Peter Community Church and Adult Choir, where she enjoyed making a joyful noise unto the Lord through song. She served faithfully there until her health declined.

Christina was the proud mom of two beautiful daughters: Christiana Johnson and Juleana Goodman.

Christina met Jules Anthony Goodman early on and later married in March of 2010.

Christiana’s favorite scriptures: Psalm 121 and the 23rd Psalm. As she lifted her eyes to the hills and heard her Shepherd’s call, she peacefully, left it all. She passed at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) CCU on Thursday, June 30, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father, James Edward Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Jules Anthony Goodman; two daughters, Christiana Johnson and Juleana Goodman (friend, Co-Bryant Skinner, Sr.) of Dothan, Alabama; grandson, Co-Bryant Skinner, Jr. of Dothan, Alabama; her loving and devoted mother, Gerlean Johnson of Dothan, Alabama; brother, Edward Johnson of Dothan, Alabama; two sisters, Barbara Redding and Denise Johnson both of Dothan, Alabama; thirteen aunts, Celia Smith, Ruth Powe, Faye Arrington, Arlean Harris, Armanda Johnson, Jannie (Raymond) Daniels, Jennie (Charles) Lee, Blondell (Tim) McClendon, Lorene Ward of Dothan, Alabama; Sarah Russell of Miami, Florida; Lorrianne “Polly” Payne of Saginaw, Michigan; eight uncles, Jerry (Betty) Johnson of Slocomb, Alabama; Danny Johnson and Terry Lee Johnson both of Dothan, Alabama; Joe (Annie) Johnson of Abbeville, Alabama; Roy Johnson of Miami, Florida; sister-in-law, Gladys Johnson of Dothan, Alabama; nephew/son, Terry Brandon Harvey of Dothan, Alabama; two nieces/daughters, Domonique Capell of Dothan, Alabama and LaCabra Thomas of Columbus, Georgia; two special friends, Angie Davis, Sherry M. Kirkland; and a host of cousins and sorrowing family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Community Church, Bay Springs, 241 Marshall Road, Dothan, AL with

Pastor Leroy McLeroy officiating.

Interment was at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery, Bay Springs, 11901 Fortner St., Dothan, AL.
