OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA for Mr. Johnny Lee Simmons, affectionately known by his family and friends as “Wanky” and “Tab”, 70, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be at Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Rev. Lionel Rubin, Pastor of Anointed Walls Ministries in Opelousas, LA, will be officiating the funeral service.

Mr. Simmons’ memories are being cherished by: his daughter, Janet Simmons of Opelousas, LA; his granddaughter, Jasmine Miracle Simmons of Opelousas, LA; two step sons, Herman (Janin) Coleman, III of San Diego, CA and Dequincy (Natasha) Coleman of Humble, TX; four step daughters, Lequita Johnson (Renaldo) of Scott, LA , Muriel Simmons-Chavis (James) and Roberta Simmons, both of Opelousas, LA and Adenessa Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; five brothers, Clarence (Sandra) Simmons, Michael (Wanda) Simmons, Albert Simmons, Gerald Simmons and Skippy (Carolyn) Simmons, all of Opelousas, LA; three sisters, Betty Ann Simmons, Alice Carmouche (Wayne) and Lucille Simmons, all of Opelousas, LA; maternal aunt, Annie Mae Gloston of Opelousas, LA; brothers-in-law, John L. Johnson and Rev. Robert Lee (Patsy) Johnson and Leroy (Paula) Johnson, all of Opelousas, LA and Ronald Wayne Johnson of Lake Charles, LA; one sister-in-law, Shirley Senegal of Houston, TX; two Godchildren, Joshua Simmons and Thomas Castille, both of Opelousas, LA; twenty-three step grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren ; a special niece (caretaker), Lashonda Rubin of Opelousas, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his wife, Jennifer Simmons; his parents, Thomas and Betty Lee Reado Simmons, Sr.; two brothers, Thomas Simmons, Jr. and Ronald Chubby Simmons; grandparents, Majesta Jones and Arthur “Boy” Reado; sisters-in-law, Patricia Simmons and Barbara Castille; and nephews, Jawalka Simmons and Tharius Simmons.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home.
