Cordie L. Bobo Murphy was born February 24,1938, in Mississippi County, Arkansas the daughter of Harvey Lunnie Bobo and Rosie Lee Blackburn Bobo. Cordie attended Richard B. Harrison High School and was an active member of the Harrisonites, Inc., she was a former member of the Versatile - 25 Social Club. Cordie was a retired employee of the Blytheville School District, working at Central Elementary School. She dedicated her life to Christ as a child, as an adult, she united with True Light Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Sam Bennett, later joining Faith and Glory Christian Fellowship under the pastorage of Pastor Adron Poole.
Cordie was a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her precious family. During the Christmas season, you could ride by her home on West McHaney and marvel at her beautiful vintage green aluminum Christmas tree with red bells.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Lunnie Bobo, and Rosie Lee Blackburn Bobo, her first husband, Joshua Murphy, daughters, Rosalind Murphy, Valerie Murphy, and LaToya Hoston, brothers, Virgil Bobo, Leon Poe, and Garland Bobo, and her sister, Rose Agee. Cordie was peacefully called to her heavenly home, Friday November 10,2023 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 85.
Those left to cherish precious memories are two sons, Randall Murphy of France, and Joshua (Joya) Murphy, of Rantoul, Illinois; three daughters, Glenda Murphy Dorsett Davis of Bealeton, Virginia; Cordie Jones of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Tracie (Charles) Mitchell of Jacksonville, Arkansas; four sisters, Lonnie Scott of Elkhart, Indiana; Mary Douglas of Rantoul, Illinois; Wanda Washington of Gosnell, Arkansas; and Leona (Leroy) Tate of Blytheville, Arkansas; 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 11 great- great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith and Glory Christian Fellowship, 1510 Kari Ln., Blytheville, Arkansas, where Adron Poole is the pastor. Pastor Poole will deliver the eulogy.
