Obituary For Hazel Mae Avens

Hazel Mae Freeman Avens, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, slipped quietly away with her husband by her side on November 15, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy, her devoted husband of 62 years, Otis V. Avens; daughter, Dr. Lowanda Avens Studevent of Bowie, MD; devoted son-in-love, Bruce Studevent; four doting grandchildren, India, Asia, Kendall, and Victoria Studevent; son, O. Anthony Avens (Deborah) of Accokeek, MD; two granddaughters, Jasmin and Danielle Avens; son-in-love, Brian Studevent of Bowie, MD, two devoted friends, Erma Milbourne and Caroline Atkins; neighbor, Joe Echard; a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. where viewing will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 21 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Rev. Michael Bennett officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens.
