Laray was a beautiful friend but most of all a dear sister-in-Christ. She touched so many with the Word and Good News of the Lord. One Thanksgiving she even persuaded my sons to obey the gospel and be baptized. We were girlfriends, co-workers for Southwestern Christian College, and we Shared Jesus. Best of all "We Shared Jesus. Our last girl's trip was to a Ladies Retreat in Martha's Vineyard before COVID. The Lord blessed us to talk right before her passing, I was waiting for her return call when God called her home. Because "We Shared Jesus", we will forever be a part of each other and Sisters. Rest In Jesus dear sister-friend until we reunite in the Great Gettin' Up Morning! Glynda Mayo Hall

My condolences to the Bailey family. I'm deeply honored to have been apart of her life. We have shared so many memories together. The 17 years I've known Laray has been a joy. She made sure that I stayed the course with they Lord. She has truly been an inspiration. One thing I can truly say, is that she loved the Lord. If you didn't know Jesus, she wouldn't stop until you did. She truly fought to fight. I will miss our walks together. She was a very good and dear friend. My heart will always remember her.

I met Lauray on April 8, 1991 on Grove Ave in Richmond Virginia (in the far west end of Richmond Virginia). I was coming out of my Lawyer's office and was walking towards the bus stop. A car pulled up and stopped. It was Lauray offering me a ride. At first I thought to say no thanks. However, she continues to insist on giving me a ride. Because of her genuine attitude and affectionate smile I said sure. She then asked me my name and where I was going. She told me her name as well. She asked me if I attended Church. I said yes but I hadn't been in awhile. She invited me to the Dill Ave Church of Christ Monday evening bible class at 7:30pm. Once she drop me off at my Mother's apartment she mentioned that she lives nearby. That evening I walked to the Dill Ave Church of Christ on Dill Ave, and Lauray was at the front door anticipating my arrival. She introduced me to two Men of the Dill Ave Church of Christ (brother Alonzo Bates and brother Marvin Bailey). I wasn't aware at that time that Alonzo Bates and Lauray were cousins. These two brothers took me into a class room where we had a bible study. That night I obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ said was baptized. That was 32 years ago, and I am still a faithful member of the Church of Christ The Church of Christ at Sandy Lane in Richmond Virginia (formerly the Dill Ave Church of Christ). It is because of sister Lauray who was responsible for me becoming a member of the Lord's Church. On that day April 8,1991 if this would have been any other person I probably would have been a member of the Church of Christ today. For the past 32 years as I have traveled and attended as well preached at several Churches of Christ. I have always shared my testimony of how I became a member of the Church of Christ through sister Lauray Bailey, and her cousin brother Alonzo Bates and brother Marvin Bailey. I realized and understand that I am not the only person sister Lauray has touched over the years. However, I am ever so grateful to the Lord that he sent this beloved sister my way. She didn't just see a man, she saw a man lost looking for a shepherd. On April 8, 1991 I wasn't lost anymore. I found my shepherd (Jesus Christ). I will always continue to share my testimony and pray that I remain faithful unto my death as my beloved sister Lauray. She was a fearless woman, and a humble hard fighting soldier for king Jesus and his Church. To Jimmy and Marco Sr and the family I offer my humble sincere condolences at this time for your loss. My the Lord give you his comfort and peace during this time of discomfort.
