Bernice Cloyd, 82, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at her home in Stanford, KY.

Bernice was born on October 21, 1941, in Stanford, KY to the late Joe W. and Velma Helm. Bernice was the widow of Charles Cloyd. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Karen; five brothers, Ralph, Sylvester, Joe A., William L., and Lewis Helm; and one sister Yvonne Mucker.

Bernice accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in the community of Boneyville, Stanford, KY. She was a homemaker and found joy in the simple things of life; in her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandsons and in serving and praising the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Rhonda Cloyd, Lexington, KY; two sons, Kendall C. Cloyd, Stanford, KY and Kenneth W. Cloyd, Sr., Louisville, KY; two sisters, Margaret Stateman, Stanford, KY and Juanita Helm, Stanford, KY; one brother, Hubert Helm, Stanford, KY; two grandsons, Kenneth (Lauren) Cloyd, Jr., Louisville, KY and Jaiden (Brianna) Cloyd, Nicholasville, KY; two great-grandsons Cairo Cloyd and Jeren Turner both of Louisville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Please keep the family in your prayers.

Kenneth Cloyd and I connected and have been friends since 1983 at Eastern Kentucky University. My entire family knows Ken. I know Little Ken and his grandson. I knew Mr. Cloyd as great father that always had a good joke in his pocket. Kendall and Rhonda are great people as well. And I consider them great friends although I don't get to see them that much. Sooo the Cloyd family are just good people. Sooo when I heard Mother Cloyd had passed away I was hurt to my heart. Mrs. Cloyd was a really sweet lady that loved her family. Lena (my wife) and Momma just got to spend a little time with Mother Cloyd a couple months ago over Ken's house. We had a wonderful time talking story, fellowshipping, and cutting-up. I'll cherish that memory forever that our two mothers were able to laugh together. Rest in Power Mother Cloyd. Much Love Dear Lady! Our prayers are with the family.

Although the homegoing encounter is but another milestone in a life filled with them, it is deeply sad to think about Mother Cloyd departing to see Jesus and we will miss her until our great day.
