Mr. Charlie Lee Moore, 87, of Elizabethtown, KY, died Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Baptist Health Hardin.
Mr. Moore was a native of Forrest City, AR and the son of the late James (Sr.) and Sammie Lee Moore. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Ministry and was a founding member of the Golden Tones Quartet. He also served as past Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Bus/Van Driver and church league basketball coach. Mr. Moore was an avid Elizabethtown Independent Schools (EIS) supporter and after retiring from driving for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, he drove a school bus for EIS.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Theodis, James Jr., Columbus and Clinton Moore; two sisters, Birdie Mae McNairy and Alice Robinson; two grandchildren, MaShonda Moore, Jacob Moore; and a bonus son, Steve Hampton.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Moore of Elizabethtown, KY; three sons, Ronald Nelson (Cynthia) of Colorado Springs, CO; Ricardo Moore (Diana) and Reginald Moore (Mitzi) both of Elizabethown, KY; three daughters, Rhonda Moore Scott (William), Rita Moore, both of Elizabethtown, KY and Rochelle Moore Harden (Kenneth) of Chattanooga, TN; 12 grandchildren, Bradley Moore, LaManda Rodriquez (Joel), Charles Moore, Danielle Nelson, Renata Patton, Clayton Patton II, Roscoe Walker (Madison), Rossmann Walker, Shawn Moore, Natalie Moore, Naomi Moore and Nichol Parker; 3 great grandchildren, Avery Patton, Ava Patton Jones and Isabelle Rodriquez; two sisters, Clarene Quarrells and Marie Greene; sisters-in-law, Leatta English, Lucy Brashear and Eunice Moore; a host of “adopted” children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Roderick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2023, also at First Baptist Church.
