MR. BENJAMIN BROOKS “SONNY” GRIFFIN - Age 90, of Dalton, Georgia and formerly of Reno, Nevada, transitioned peacefully Monday, December 4, 2023. He was born December 23, 1932 in Carters, Murray County, Georgia to the late Willie Benjamin Griffin and Pauline Davis Griffin and was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Bernice Baker, son, Kurt Vandenberg, brothers, Hugh Gene “Tommy” Griffin, Robert “Bobby” Griffin and Davis “Grip” Griffin. He retired from The United States Air Force after 20 Years of service.

Survivors are his loving wife, Eleanor Griffin; children, Johanna Griffin of, Fairfield, CA, Paula Vandenberg (Jimmy) of Alameda, CA, David Vandenberg, Oakland, CA, Keith Vandenberg, Ukiah, CA; grandchildren, David Vandenberg, Jr., San Antonio, TX, Lucianna Vandenberg, White Salmon, WA, Kelly Phillips and Brittany Baker, Dalton, GA; seven great grandchildren, sisters, Willa Faye Williams, Caroline Virginia Broome, and Gladiola Griffin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Hearth Hospice and CNA Crystal McPherson, Nurse Cassidy Knight, special nephew and niece, Tracy and Lernice Dillard.

Homegoing Service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 3:30 P. M. at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel, 2011 Martin L. King, Jr., Blvd., Dalton, Georgia 30721 with Pastor David Thomas as Eulogist and other ministers officiating. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Saturday after 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Sunday. Interment at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
