Rodney 'Shawn' Melatt, 47 formerly of Raleigh, NC passed on September 23, 2017 in Tennessee. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sheena Melatt LaVergne, TN; Mother and Father Debra and Wayne Williams, Raleigh NC. Four Children Jamal Gray, Keara Henderson, Jada Melatt, and Quamar Todd all of Raleigh NC.; Three sisters Jennifer Vick of Houston TX, Latasha Smith ( Martie Smith) Knightdale NC, Wanett Mims (Chris Mims) Raleigh NC, Grandchildren, Levi Gray , Cameron Grey, all of Raleigh N.C.; six nieces ,seven nephews, three great nieces and two great nephews and a host of aunts ,uncles , cousins relatives and friends. My heart aches for Sheena and the Melatt family to lose in death your precious loved one Shawn, way too soon. Words are so limited that can give comfort, so I would like to share with you beautiful scripture where our heavenly Father, Jehovah God (Psalm 83:18), invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. Psalm 34:18 Jehovah promises us that he is going to do away with man's greatest enemy, death. Rev. 21: 4; 'And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. Isaiah 33:24 guarantees us: 'And no resident will say 'I am sick,' ever again. God's kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matt. 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises here on earth (Psalm 37:9-11, 29), including the resurrection. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, but we are all guaranteed a resurrection. Our savior, Jesus, said: John 6: 40; 'For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day'. Jesus also said: John 5: 28; 'Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out...' John 11:23-25; 'Jesus said to her: 'I am the resurrection and the life.' The one who exercises faith in me, even tho he dies, will come to life.' I pray that Jesus's promise to reunite us with our loved ones on resurrection day will carry you through the difficult days ahead and gradually replace your tears of grief with tears of joy as you reflect on your precious memories of happier times with Shawn. To the Melatt family I send prayers from the Monroe Family. Shawn(Dog) was a great friend and brother to me from the time I met him. He was there when I needed him for any reason. My heart and mind are still trying to understand his leaving. My tears are for the fact I will never see him again. The impact he made on my life as a Good Friend will always be everlasting and a major part in my life. Give Ra a hug and kiss for me for now I have two angels watching over me.
