Darren McPhaul

Darren McPhaul was the 3rd of 5 children born to the late Charles Agustas McPhaul and Edna Mae Carter McPhaul on June 12, 1958, in Roswell, New Mexico. He peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

Darren matriculated his education journey through New York Public Schools in Brooklyn, NY: and Guilford County Schools in Greensboro NC.

In his spare time, Darren enjoyed having jam sessions on Sundays playing the drums with his brother Kirby and cousin Quinton. Darren was a well known DJ at various clubs in the area, affectionately known as DJ “Disco”. He was always known to keep the party going! Darren was also a gifted musician and loved to sing! One of his favorite songs was One In A Million, and truly he was! Darren also was a drummer for his church, and loved to hang around local R&B bands! Darren loved music because it brought joy to others, and music was his life! When Darren was not doing music, he loved to play recreational sports such as Football, Baseball, Basketball and Handball!. The family knew to call Darren if they needed car repairs, because he was also the family’s mechanic! Darren loved his family and he loved the Lord. Darren always made sure to fill the room with joy! His infectious personality and unique humor will be truly missed.

Darren is preceded in death by his father Charles, maternal grandfather and grandmother the late Otis and Cora Carter, Uncle Leon Carter, oldest brother Terry McPhaul, sister Regina Marie McPhaul and daughter Latisha Marie Blane.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Edna Mae McPhaul, sons Derrick Jefferies and Darrell Martin, one daughter Sharice Blane, granddaughter London Blane, and three other grandkids, one uncle Charles Carter, one sister Teressa McPhaul Stephens, one brother Kirby McPhaul, nieces and nephews, Kirby McPhaul Jr., Toyrie McPhaul, Aprille McPhaul, Jamee McPhaul, Vondelayo McPhaul, Brandee Stephens, great niece and nephews Cheyenne McPhaul, Jayden McPhaul, Lawrence and Victor Burton, God-siblings Euressa Durham, Reginald (Red) Mendenhall, and Yul (LA) Bennerman, and a host of close family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 10:30am Equation Church 901 Broad Ave. Greensboro, NC. 10am Visitation.
