Obituary For Bernice Adell St Clair

Bernice A. St Clair, 81 of 2809 Bethune Drive of Raleigh, NC passed on April 5, 2018 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. On November 14, 1936 Theodore and Olivia C. Hinton welcomed their beautiful daughter into the world. Bernice Adell as their only child for a short while. She eventually was joined by brothers and sisters and they all grew up in Apex, North Carolina. After graduating from Berry O’Kelly High School, Bernice attended Watts School of Nursing and began her career in the health care field as a Nurse Aide. During her early adult years, she married William E. Marshall and four sons were born to this union. They relocated to Washington, DC in the late 1960’s where Bernice continued to work and raise her family. Bernice enjoyed the energy of the big city and looked forward to days off, where her sons fondly remember her dancing and listening to “her music”— Teddy Pendegrass and Lou Rawls were two of her favorites at the time. After returning to North Carolina and retiring, she took great pleasure in helping her mother and spoiling her grandsons. Even after her health declined, she was always offering to assist her children, grandchildren and others in the family. Bernice departed this life on April 5, 2018. She leaves many family members to cherish her memory: sons William Marshall, Jr. (Toni), Frederick Christopher Marshall, Richard Marshall (Adrienne), Mark Marshall (Kim); 10 grandchildren; Brothers Fred “Bob” Hinton (Hilda) and Theodore “Chester” Hinton; beloved sisters Mary H. “Louise” Riley and Sylvia “Annette” H. Sanders, her caretaker; Aunts—Mrs. Virgie Robinson, Mrs. Nannie Lancey, Mrs. Martha Terrell (Cornell) and one uncle, Mr. Robert Craig. Bernice is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and cousins, too numerous to name.
