Angelene Polk

Angelene Katrinia Polk, 76 went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2023 in High Point NC. She was born on May 28, 1947, in Wadesboro, NC to the late Nannie Gatewood and Wilbert Sinclaire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wilbert DeRay Huntley, and sister, Mamie Lee Moon.

She was a graduate of J.R. Faison High School in Wadesboro, NC and attended Davidson County Community College in 1990 for Nursing. Angelene worked as a seamstress for many years at Adams Millis Hosiery in High Point before moving into nursing in the late 90s. She spent many years at Moses Cone Hospital working in the cardiac intensive care unit until her retirement in 2009.

Angelene was a devoted wife, mother and church member of Life Changing International Church where she served on the Usher Board, Missionary Board, and Pillar for many years. Caregiving was her ministry and she would often sit with patients by request from their families in her time away from work and church. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, and loved to take long walks on the beach, shopping at thrift stores, frequent visits to Starbucks, shopping for purses, spending time caring and cooking for her kids and grandkids. She loved to laugh, listen to gospel music, play bingo, and traveling to new places and experiencing new things.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Polk of the home; two daughters, Jevera Perdue of High Point NC and Crystal Wiggins Brice (Andre) of Columbia, SC; her sister, Ms. Minnie Lou Huntley of Wadesboro, NC; three grandchildren, Joshua Wiley of Fayetteville, NC; Chelsea Hagler of High Point, NC; and Roland D. Perdue, II of High Point NC; three nieces, Michelle Huntley of Kernersville, NC; Veronica Moon of Baltimore, Maryland and Kelli Huntley of Wadesboro, NC and Elder Tawanna Huntley Crawford of Huntsville Alabama; two brothers-in-law, Purcell Polk and Lewis Polk; two sisters-in-law, Laverne Polk and Helen Sturdivant; three step-sons, Timothy Polk, Russell Polk and Maurice Polk; one grand pup “Roxie” and a host of adopted grandkids, great nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Life Changing International Church, 1217 E. Green Drive. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens.
