The oldest of ten and first born child born to Harrison and Margaret Johnson Morris arrived on October 1, 1937 in Burke County, Midville, GA. They named her Frances May. She took her responsibility as “Big Sister” very seriously and extended her love as she welcomed and helped to nurtured nine other siblings.
She made her transition from labor to reward on December 18, 2023 at an Augusta Hospital.
Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Bryant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5293 Highway 24 South, Waynesboro, GA. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M.
After becoming an adult Frances moved to Albany, N.Y. where she worked at Albany Medical Center and retired after a very successful career as a Dietary Supervisor. In 1999, she returned to Georgia and reunited with the Christian family at Bryant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she proudly with honor, served as Mother of the Church.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents along with several siblings: Margaret Danzey, Ethel Burley and Ernestine Gray.
Her presence will forever be missed in the daily lives of her siblings: Rosie B. (John) Lewis, Albany, New York, Mary Lou Jones, Ruby Williams, Mae Bell Bynes, Arthur Morris all of Louisville, GA, Harrison (Bernice) Morris, Jr., Millen, GA; a host of loving and devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Officers of Bryant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Active Pallbearers will be Cleveland Riles, Antoine Gray, Nelson Bynes, Jr., Allen Bynes, K. C. Jones, Jr. and Ronald Gray, Jr.
