Billy Gary Wadelington was born on June 30, 1951 to the late Lacy and Ople Wadelington. He entered eternal life on December 31, 2023.
Billy was married to the love of his life, Evelyn for 25 years.
He was lovingly known as Papa or Uncle Billy. Growing up Billy was one of 12 children. He was very athletic, a great basketball player & an avid sports fan, graduating from Northwest Guiford High School. Billy had a love for hot rods & fast cars.
He spent many years in a career doing something he loved, which was driving trucks. During his career he gained the nickname “Bumper Jack”. If you knew Billy you know he fought a good fight. Even after his health declined he remained a devoted, loyal & faithful member of Pine Hall MBC, under the leadership of the late Pastor Lowery, whom he loved dearly. Pastor Lowery as well as his wife, Betty Lowery loved Billy just as much. During his many hospital stays they never missed lone. Pastor Lowery often said “every church needs a Brother Billy”. He was ordained a deacon under the current Pastor, Pastor Calvin Edwards. In addition to serving as a deacon, Billy also was a member of the Male Chorus, the Gospel Choir & the Senior Choir, where he was known for singing his favorite song, “Resting Easy”.
One of his greatest joys of serving was the van ministry. Billy had a sincere servants heart. Having spent much time at Baptist Hospital, Billy was not known for his declining health, but for his faith & impact on everyone he met. He didn't meet a stranger & always greeted everyone with that contagious smile.
Billy truly loved his family. He was known as everyone's favorite. But he had a favorite, a special love for his little brother, Arthur & also shared a very close bond with is great grandsons, Damir and Legend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his little sister, Myra and his brother, Deacon Terry Lee Wadelington of Rock Hill MBC. (Linell)
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving, devoted wife and caretaker; Evelyn Wadelington, three children; Twanna & Billy Wadelington, Jr. both of Greensboro, NC and Misty Welch of Greensboro, NC.
