Mrs. Annie Jean Guyton

Mrs. Annie Guyton, 74, of Gadsden, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She is survived by her family. We ask that you keep this family in your hearts and prayers during their time of bereavement.

Mrs. Annie Jean Guyton was born on October 5,1949 to the late Laysander & Emma Jean Buckner in Gadsden, AL.

On January 2, 2024, she heard the Master’s call and answered.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to her High School sweetheart, Mr. Willie R. Guyton on November 3,1972 and to this union three children were born.

She received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church for more than 40 years and faithfully giving her service to the Lord by: singing in the choir, being a part of the Usher Board, Missionary Society, decorating, Kitchen Committee, teaching and speaking engagements. She later joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in 2017 serving as a Sunday School teacher, VBS Coordinator, Missionary Society, Choir Member and on the kitchen and decorating committee.

Her hobbies were gardening, sitting outside, spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, singing, ministering and mothering to anyone that crossed her path.

She worked in the Food industry in various places such as Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Striplin Elementary lunchroom. She was a self-employed wedding coordinator and Florist. She also worked at Ferguson’s Florist in Attalla, AL.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Laysander & Emma Jean Buckner; Spouse, Willie R. Guyton; Son, William Winborn; Grandson, Rod A. Freeman Jr. and in-laws, Joseph & Ruth Guyton.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful and loving memories to: Her daughters, LaSandra Guyton, Apryl Guyton and Krystle (Rod) Freeman Sr.; Siblings, Buster B. Porch, Gloria (Jeffery) Hope, Doris (Hezekiah) Barrax & Leroy (Beverly) Buckner; Special sister/aunt, Frances E. Love; Aunt, Margaret Mims; Chosen sisters, Debra Spear and Ethel Winlock; Chosen brother, Willie Frank Hightower and Greg Crews; Chosen children, Rod Freeman Sr., Douglas (Tara) Guyton, Thyris (Kishawn) Banks, Towanna (Taurus) Wilson, Sharita (Princeton) Carlisle, Ceandra James Ramirez, Theresa (David) Williams; Grandchildren, Rod A. Freeman III, Em’Maya Freeman and Krystrane Freeman; Chosen grandchildren, Taurus Wilson Jr, Taurya Wilson, Dayun Wyatt, and Keona Guyton. She had a special bond with all of her nieces & nephews, especially her bed/ snack partner, Malia Calloway; Special friends, Elenor Cox, Jan (Robert) Avery, and Jimmie Leonard and a host of other family members and friends.

Public Visitation will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 12pm-6pm at West Gadsden.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, January 7, 2024 at New Liberty Tabernacle of Praise at 2pm. Eulogist: Reverend Anthony Jelks / Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery
