Dassie Melvin Jones entered into eternal rest on January 5th, 2024. He was born May 15, 1947, in Willow Springs, NC to the late Sir Walter Jones and the late Amanda Geneva Gordon Jones.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his sister Janette Watkins, and grandson Domonique Lennon. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of twenty years Lianying Jones; 6 children(Tonya, Niecy, Melvin Jr (Skeet), Corey, Erin, and Kevin); 13 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Melvin’s love of family reached beyond his immediate family. He loved his Jones family deeply, showing up for all family reunions, celebrations, cookouts, or just phone calls to say hi. Melvin would find a relative in every city or town he visited. Known for his gift of gab, Melvin never met a stranger and talked to everyone he met. By the end of the conversation, he would be related to the person or know someone they were related to. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will be cherished by family, friends, and colleagues alike.
