Funeral Services for Mr. John Thomas Mathis Sr. 84, of Vienna GA will be held Saturday January 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Living God in Vienna GA. Interment in the Vienna City Cemetery.

John Thomas Mathis Sr. was born on May 04, 1939 in Dooly County, GA to Mr. Tom Jones and Ada Lee Cross whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife Molly Brown Mathis, son, Kelvin B. Mathis and grandson, Dentris m. Mathis; three brothers, Henry Cross of Cordele, GA, Norman C. Cross of Vienna, GAQ, Milton Cross of Elizabethtown, KY; one sister, Susie Mae Dawson of Vienna, GA. John Thomas Mathis Sr. attended the Dooly County Public School System. On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, he peaceful transitioned from this life. He leaves to mourn his passing two sons; John T. (Regina) Mathis Jur., Freedonta H. Mathis of Vienna, GA; four daughters: Sheila L. Mathis of Vienna, GA, Patricia A. Mathis of Warner Robins, GA, Sandra Mathis of Perry, GA; one sister, Verna C. Lester of Vienna, GA; one uncle, Rev. Henry F. Williams of Buffalo, NY; one sister-in-law, Eloise Cross of Elizabethtown, KY; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren; a devoted friend, Alvin King of Vienna, GA and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
