Chester “Pete” Lawson died Thursday, January 18, 2024 at his residence in the presence of his devoted family in Summerton SC 29148. He was born October 1, 1944 in Clarendon County to the late Elijah & Sarah Alma Stukes Lawson. Chester was preceded in death by five siblings: John Lawson, Joseph Lawson, Maggie Ragin, Shirley Oliver and Martha White.

He worked as a police officer for the town of Summerton, mechanic for Greg’s Service Station in Summerton, a general maintenance worker for the town of Summerton, Santee State Park and Recreation, and Grant Clarendon until his retirement.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-nine years, Daisy Ragin Lawson, of the home; four children: Joe L. Busby of Orangeburg, SC, Angela Lawson of Manning, SC, Terrence (Princess) Lawson of Clarksville, TN and Sarah Lawson of the home; eleven grandchildren: Cyprian, Anthony, Ashley, Brianna, Demetrius, Symari, Isaiah, Sanaii, Elijah, Gabrielle, and Terrence Jr.; three great grandchildren; loving siblings and their spouses: Pernell (Flora) Lawson of Santee, SC, Leroy (Diane) Lawson of Summerton, SC and Jaluen Lawson of Manning, SC; his nephew, Jacob (Renea) Lawson reared as his brother; a host of other in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 26, 2024 at Hayes F. Samuels, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 North Church St., Manning, SC.
