Jimmy (aka) “Jim Poolem” O’Neal Davis, Sr., 80 of Madison, NC passed Monday, January 22, 2024. Public viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church, 3554 Horsepasture Price Road, Ridgeway, VA, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Jimmy O'Neal Davis, Sr., affectionately known as “Jim Poolem”, was born on February 6, 1943, to the late Hattie E. Davis and the late Charles Dalton. He entered into paradise on Monday, January 22, 2024 at his home.

Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Madison,NC, having attended Charles Drew High School. He was a dedicated employee of Duke Energy prior to his retirement in the early 2000s, and was a faithful member of Mayo Missionary Baptist Church. He was married to the love of his life, Jessie Brim Davis, for 28 years until her death in 2015. You could always count on Jimmy to be rooting for the UNC Tarheels basketball team or watching the latest NASCAR race on TV.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Annie B. Davis and Neltra Dalton and brothers; John W. Davis, Byron Dalton and Wayne Dalton.

He leaves to celebrate and honor his memory: his children; Jimmy Davis, Jr. (Amber) of Eden, NC, Sonja Scales, Steve Scales and Tonya Scales all of Stoneville, NC, grandchildren; Jimmy Davis, III of Eden, NC and Mia Scales of Stoneville, NC. Sisters; Eva Davis of Madison, NC and Rufina Dalton of New Orleans, LA; brother, Charles Dalton of New Orleans, LA and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
