As the gates of heaven opened, the Angels began to sing, and her heavenly family rejoiced. Etta Jewel Mims departed this life January 19, 2024 at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC. Jewel was born on March 1, 1961, in Wake County, NC to her proud parents, (late) Albert Mims, Jr. (Boot) and Pattie Page Mims. She learned their first child and was adored by her parents. She learned how to farm and cook while growing up on her parent's tobacco farm, fondly called the MIMS PONDEROSEA!

Graduating from Fuquay-Varina High School in 1979 prepared her to gain employment in the following companies… Raychem, Fuquay-Varina, NC, Northern Telecom, Durham, NC and Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC. She along with her siblings, assisted with the care of her disabled mother and father.

Jewel was preceded in death by her sister, Sherrie Mims, brother Tracey Mark Mims and grandmothers, Julie Mae Burton Mims and Ethel Page. She met and married Charles Foster and they remained a couple until 2014.

She leaves to cherish her memories, mother, Pattie Mims; brothers, Lynn Mims, Christian Richardson and Elijah Mims; one uncle, Otis Mims (Bunky); one aunt, Kathy Mims Turner (Harold), all of Wake County, NC and a host of cousins, relatives and friends near and far.

Jewel was the true image of her name and lived her life accordingly. She had an infectious smile that could brighten up any room. She loved to have fun, play Bingo, dance and sing. Her loving spirit and beauty were inherited from her beautiful mother, Pattie Mims, and will be remembered by those who knew her.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
