Mason Mint Minion, age 75, peacefully departed this world on January 15, 2024, at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta GA. age of 75. Born on October 2, 1948, in the city of Youngstown, Ohio, Mason was the beloved son of Joe Marlowe and Sallie Minion. He was also reared and nurtured by Mint Mason who was a constant presence in his life.
Though Mason's journey in education led him to obtain a high diploma from South High School. His knowledge and wisdom extended far beyond the classroom. Throughout his life, Mason was known for his kind heart and unwavering commitment towards his family and friends.
He was a dedicated laborer in the construction industry, employed by the Ohio Labor Union, where he consistently displayed his strong work ethic and passion for his craft. He was employed by Turner Construction until his retirement.
He enjoyed sharing and telling great stories, listening to old school music, and making others laugh. He loved the Marta Train, Atlanta’s public transit, where he socialized and met others. Never a stranger, he was considered a friend to all who encountered him.
Mason is survived by his loving sons, James Minion of Youngstown and Joseph Minion of Harlem NY, who will forever cherish the memories of their father's guidance, love, and support. His legacy will continue to live on through them and their own endeavors. He also leaves a score of nieces, nephews, and cousins that span several generations in the Atlanta, Columbus and Youngstown areas.
To honor the life of Mason Mint Minion, A Celebration of Life, Love & Legacy will be held in his memory. On Friday, February 2, the 11am public viewing will be held at The Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Avenue. The services will begin at noon when Pastor Allen Carter, Jr. of Walking By Faith Ministries COGIC, Heflin, Alabama, will preside and serve as celebrant. Following the funeral service, Mason will be laid to rest at Belmont Park Cemetery.
