INMAN, SC-- Mr. Vinson Harris, Sr., 80, of 459 Jordan Creek Rd., peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, October 31, 2011. Mr. Harris was a native of Spartanburg County; he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Philmor Harris. Mr. Harris was the widower of Mrs. Betty Jean Wheeler Harris.Mr. Harris was retired from Duke Energy after 43 years of devoted service.Mr. Harris is survived by his devoted and loving family: five daughters, Ms. Martha Harris of Duncan, SC, Mrs. Mary Lisa (Roy) Holley of Fairmont, SC, Mrs. Sandy Harris, Mrs. Trina Reed, both of Spartanburg, SC, and Ms. Torasa Harris of the home; two sons, Mr. Vinson Harris Jr. and Mr. Bennie (Sondra) Harris, both of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law, nieces; nephews; and a host of other dear relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 3:00 pm at the Upper Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. James Brewton and the Rev. Walter. R. Belton will officiate.Mr. Harris will lie in state in the church from 2:00 pm until the hour of the funeral.J.W.
