Obituary: Elder John Nelson Smith born to the Late Elder Lillious (Pa Joe) Smith and Evangelist Carrie Mae Smith on November 15,1949 in Morgan County, Ga Passed away on February3,2024.

The 6 of 13 children born to his parents, attended Bruce Street High School in Lithonia. He later went on to join the United States Army and served there for 2 years. John worked as a plumber for the Dekalb County School System for 30 years before retiring in 2004.

On December 23,1972 John wed the love of his life Judy Bailey and to their union 2 sons were born Arlando Antonio Smith “Tony” and John Edward Smith “Jon-Jon”, 2 Granddaughters Destiny Lester and Journey Boker, 1 grandson Justice Lester.

Born and raised into a Christian family, John gave his life to God at an early age. He was a member of and attended Moses Tabernacle FCOGIC in Lithonia, Georgia under the late Elder L.V. Moses and the late Pastor William H. Kilgore, Sr.

John joined Christ Deliverance Tabernacle of Grace later in life and served as an Elder until his passing.

Those left to cherish his memories, a faithful, loving, and devoted wife Mrs. Judy B. Smith of Lithonia,Ga 2 sons Arlando Antoine Smith, and John Edward Smith, 3 sisters & 3 sisters Selonia (Lawrence)Harper in McDonough, Georgia, LP Smith (Eloise) Lithonia, Georgia, James W.(Kathy) Smith - Stone Mountain, Georgia, Larry(Rosena) Smith Loganville, Georgia, Drusilla Smith Lithonia, Georgia, and Revella (Willie) Johnson Decatur, Georgia, 2 Granddaughter Journey Boker, Destiny Lester, and 1 grandson Justice Lester. He also leave to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
