Dorothy "Dot" McClain, 76, beloved matriarch, devoted friend, and esteemed student, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, at Peak Resources in Cherryville, NC. She was born on March 8, 1947, to the late Thomas Dixon and Elizabeth McClain.

Dotty was a beacon of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She graduated Salutatorian from John Chavis High School in 1965, a testament to her unparalleled intellect and dedication to excellence.She attended Gaston College, where she received her Certified Nursing Assistant 1 and 2 credentials.Dot's academic achievements were only surpassed by her boundless compassion and unwavering commitment to serving others.A very passionate worker at Bethware Elementary in Kings Mountain, NC, she was lastly employed by Cleveland County Schools. In addition to all her responsibilities, she loved driving the school bus.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dot was a cherished friend, confidante, and mentor. Her warmth and kindness knew no bounds, and her infectious laughter could light up even the darkest of days.Dot's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift us, guiding us through the darkest of days and reminding us of the power of love, laughter, and unwavering grace.

Dorothy “Dot” was always active in church and served in many positions as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the choir, Sunday School, usher board member, and served as the First Lady of Christian Faith of Gastonia, NC, that was pastored by the late Rev. Enslow McClain.

She leaves to cherish loving memories two sons, Rev. Joseph(Theresa) Little of Charlotte, NC; Lee (Cindy)Barnes of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Sonja (Larry) Montgomery of Cherryville, NC; three brothers, Rev. Larry (Shirley)Dixon of Shelby, NC, Bobby (Kayla) McClain of Cherryville, NC, Johnthan McClain of Raleigh, NC; sister, Rev. Anita (Charles) Hopper of Shelby, NC; two aunts, Lois Houge of Cherryville, NC, and Coreen Eskridge of Hickory, NC; two special sisters-in-law, Dora Clark of Kings Mountain and Anna Roberts of Cherryville, NC; five grandchildren, Joseph “JJ” Little, Angel Little, Louis “LA” Little, Dorothy “Lisa” Montgomery, Alice Montgomery; and one great-grand, Skyler Little; goddaughter, Jeretta McFadden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church in Patterson Springs at 3:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
