Mae Evelyn Bryant, 88, of Mount Vernon, New York, (native of Welatka), entered the sunset of life on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Monteflore Hospital in New Rochelle, New York.
The daughter of the late Burt Sr., and Bessie Milton, Mae was born on May 29, 1935. She was educated in the Public School System and briefly attended nursing school. She met and married Andrew L. Bryant., relocated to Mamaroneck, New York and later to Mount Vernon in 1967.
Mae Evelyn began her work career as a home health aide and later in the childcare system. She spent her latter years as a devoted housewife to her husband Andrew Sr., and a caregiver to her mother Bessie.
Mae Evelyn loved working with crafts, sewing, knitting, gardening, visiting the library, and taking long walks around town. As well she loved cooking for her family, entertaining her grandchildren and playing with her pup, Dolly.
Mae Evelyn was of the Baptist Faith and belonged to the Christian Love Baptist Church of Mount Vernon.
In addition to her parents, Mae Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew L. ”Pop” Bryant Sr., Sisters, Charlie Mae and Bertha, Brothers, Eddie, Burt Jr., Chester Sr., Harold and Morris, Granddaughter, Nina and Great Granddaughter Nadya.
She leaves to mourn her, Sons, Anthony and Andrew Jr., Mt. Vernon, Daughters, Theresa, Mt. Vernon and Marvis (Bruce), Palatka. Grand Children, Kurstan Sr., Tampa, Nigel, Nirissa, Nila and Isaiah all of Mt. Vernon, Great Grands, Kurstan Jr., Palm Coast, Malik, Morgan and Jaiden of Mt. Vernon, Great-Great Grand, Messiah Middlebrook of Palm Coast. Mae Evelyn leaves to cherish her memories a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, at The Felix Coleman Memorial Chapel, 139 N. Main St, Hastings. Interment will be held in Pattersonville Cemetery.
