Mrs. Lucy Washington Gay was born on October 29, 1954, to the Late Hattie and Frank Nix. She was a graduate of Lowndes High School in 1972. Lucy started her career at Levis Stratus in which she was employed for 20+ years until their closing. Shortly after Lucy pursued a career in Early Childhood Development and became a Daycare Teacher at Kat’s Preschool, Open Door’s Preschool and First United Methodist Church where she loved and became mom/grandma to the children. Lucy’s most recent career was a Care Giver for Home in Stead for 10 years. Lucy left her earthly home on February 11, 2024 surround by family. Lucy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother aunt and sister.

She was preceded in death by her Mother: Hattie Nix; Father: Frank Nix; Sisters: Betty Nix Jackson and Irene Smith; Brother: Leroy Nix

She leaves to cherish her memories her Husband: William Gay Sr; Daughter: Lateasa Sanchell (Akinlawon); Son: William Gay Jr(Shermeka);Niece/Daughter: Velma McGill; Nephew/Son: Juan Waymon(Shanna); Aunts: Sylvia Bellamy(Willie) and Pamela Wilson(Nathan); Uncle: Arthur Waymon(Arletha); Grandchildren: Donte Hicks, Ashanti Murray, Amiyah Murray, Sharandon Gay, Brandon Gay and Mya Gay, Shontia McGill, Justin McGill Akina Thornton(Belle) and Akinlawon Sanchell Jr. Her great granddaughter Chyna Reynolds who had a very special place in her heart. As well as a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other Family Members, and Friends.

Home going services for Mrs. Lucy Gay will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 A. M. at River Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Troope pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pallbearer Cemetery.
