Mrs. Julia Copeland Dixon was born on September 13, 1944 in Fort Valley, Georgia to the late Bessie Mae Small Copeland and Walter Copeland, Sr. She moved with her family to Valdosta, GA. at an early age and attended Valdosta City Schools. Upon graduation from Pinevale High School, she attended cosmetology school and opened up her own business. She retired from Levi Strauss and Company and operated her own personal care home (Dixon Personal Care Home) for many years. Her favorite activity was working in her yard. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.
She is proceeded in death by her loving husband, James Dixon; sister Gladys Copeland Carter; brothers, Walter Copeland, Earnest Copeland, Michael Copeland, St. Clair Copeland, and Terry Copeland.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Loretta Dixon Jones (Sam) and Karen Dixon; brothers, Wilford Copeland, Edward Copeland (Kim), Marvin Martin, James Martin (Sharon), and Larry Copeland; Sisters Debra Copeland, Lynn Copeland, Iris Copeland, and Stacey Copeland; Uncle Robert Small (Bessie Mae); Aunt Louise Emanuel; Sisters in law Laurell Dixon Duncan, Shirley Dixon, and Ruby Copeland; Brother in law William Dixon Sr. Grand kids Sam Jones III (Ann), Sean Jones, Brittney Jones Johnson (DeAndre), Syesha House, Jamesha House Camacho (Joel), Alyesha House Bailey (Otis), and 10 great grand kids. Special acknowledgement of a devoted nephew and niece John Norwood (Rose) and Carolyn Hallman (William) along with a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Home going services for Ms. Julia M. Dixon will be held on Saturday, February 24, at 3:00 P. M. at Morning Star Baptist Church Rev. Hooker is the pastor. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
