James Maddox 77, of Phenix City, AL passed Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, 11:00 am EST in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Public Visitation is Friday, March 1, 2024 from 12 - 5 pm EST. Burial in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery on Tuesday March 5, 2024 at 1:30 pm EST.
CPL. James "Shine" Maddox was born on September 22, 1946, in Phenix City, Alabama to the late James Bettis and Annie Lee Thomas Maddox. He resided in Columbus Georgia and departed this earthy life on February 24, 2024, at his residence. He was a great father, brother, and grandfather.
James served several years in the United States Marine Corp. He loved to ride around listening to his music and visiting family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Willie B. Hicks Maddox; brother Clarence Maddox two sons; Benjamin Hicks Sr. and James Alexander Jacobs. And one niece Jewel Maddox.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons: James (Latanya) LaGrand of Columbus GA and Kerry Bruce Maddox of Phenix City Alabama: two daughters: Angela LaGrand and Liquita (Arthur) Godfrey of Columbus Georgia. One brother George (Edna) Maddox of Columbus Georgia.
James "Shine" had five step children that he help raised: Jody Jacobs and Jeffrey Jacobs of Alabama: Michelle Gregory, Nicole Perry, and Timothy LaGrand of Columbus Georgia. Eight grandchildren:Toborish, Jammeisha, Quanasia , Sa'Corious, Lariya, James Jr., Jaylen, and Kamdyn. Seven great grandchildren; one niece Siera Brooks and a host of relatives: a very dear bestfriend for many years Melvin Gary.
