James E. SaltersSPARTANBURG, SC-- James E. Salters, 64, of 616 Crescent Avenue, entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 18, 2013.James was a native of Spartanburg County; he was the son of the late Robert and Betty Mae Jenkins Salters. Mr. Salters was the widower of Mrs. Patricia Woods Salters.James was a member of Silver Hill Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the former Carver High School, Class of 1967. James was also a graduate of the former Rutledge College. Mr. Salters was retired from Spartanburg Steel, Inc. after more than 40 years of service as a Quality Control Supervisor. Salters was a veteran of the Vietnam War.Mr. Salters is survived by his loving family: his children, Ashland M. Salters of Charlotte, NC and Keith E. (Dawn) Salters of Charlotte, NC; his sister, Betty Joe Salters Hooker of Spartanburg, SC; his granddaughter, Xena Aaliyah Salters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other dear relatives and friends.James was predeceased by three siblings: Robert Salters, Jr., Charles Samuel Salters and Peggy L. Salters.The Salters family will receive friends at the home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Silver Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, 778 John B. White Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Mr. Salters will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday. The Reverend Dr. Edward McDowell, Jr. will officiate.
