Dorothy Jean Curry Brown affectionately known as “Dot Jean” was born to Lukin and Lucille Curry on November 1, 1947, in Meridian, Mississippi. Later, her parents planted their home and reared their children in Gulfport, Mississippi. The Curry family was a prominent and very well-known family in North Gulfport. Dot Jean was the second born of seven children. Our Dorothy peacefully moved to her eternal home on February 25, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Rose Marie, Mattie Lou and Sula.
Dorothy received her high school diploma from North Gulfport High School. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young adult at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Dorothy met, loved and was united in holy matrimony to Sam Brown Jr., in Gulfport, Mississippi on March 4, 1972. To this loving union they were blessed with three children.
Dot Jean leaves to cherish her memory and love to her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Sam. She leaves her love and memories to her loving children: Joycelyn Michelle (Ron), Sam III (Regina) and Tiffany Ann (Chris). She will always be affectionately known as Granny and GiGi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves her love and affection to Morgan (Christopher), Tevin, Asia, Trey (Bridget), Dishante, Akia, Arielle, Conner and Cortnei. Great grandchildren she loved so dearly, Miah, Lauren, Bayleigh, Alyvia, Caiden and Camryn. She laeves her love and memories to her siblings Edna Louise, Hattie Lou, Marsha Lynn, Charles Edward, (Doris) and Joe. Two brothers-in-law, Dolphus (Paulette) Towers and Harry Cox. One sister-in-law, Annie Sue Green, 2 Special aunts, Helen Thomas and Wilhelmina Hayes. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
