Richard L. Green, 80, of Phenix City, AL passed Thursday, February 29, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, March 9, 2024 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Sunset Cemetery. Public viewing from 9 am - 2 pm EST, Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Richard Lee Green “Bubba” was born in Pittsview, AL to the late Sam Green and Lula Sanks Green, on October 1, 1943.
Richard transitioned from his life on earth February 29, 2024, at St. Francis Emory Hospital in Columbus, Ga. Richard attended Pittsview High School. He became a truck driver immediately after leaving school his senior year. He loved traveling, sports, and spending time with his family and friends. One of his memorable moments is having two birthdays. He would say “I was actually born on Nov. 1st, 1943, but social security office continued giving me an Oct. 1st, 1943, birthday”. “So, one birthday was for social security and the other was to celebrate the day that I actually graced the world”.
Richard leaves behind to mourn a loving daughter, Janice Green of Columbus, Ga., one grandson, six great grandchildren, eight nephews, eleven nieces, and two beloved double first cousins, Daisy Bales and Sally (George) Conley , and a host of relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by four brothers: Abe, Sam, Jimmy, and Arthur; three sisters, Sarah, Lillie, and Nancy. May you all rest for eternity in the Father’s Paradise.
