Obituary For Hazel Verline Smith

Hazel Verline Smith was the daughter of the late Lloyd Smith, Sr. and Ciddie Bullock of Harnett County. She was born December 3, 1958, and resided at home in Fuquay-Varina where she lived for the past 30+ years. She departed this life and entered eternal rest on March 4, 2024, surrounded by her children and loved ones.

Hazel attended school in Harnett County and later graduated from Fuquay Varina High School. She always had strong work ethics. She worked at Variety Wholesalers in Fuquay Varina where she learned the skill of making beautiful flower arrangements and bows. She was also employed by Quality Cables in Fuquay Varina. In 1999, Hazel found joy in being the Lead Teacher in the Infant Class at the Peppermint Pad where she worked faithfully every day. Hazel worked in the childcare field for over 25 years and enjoyed caring for others babies. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Some of her favorites were the 7-Layer Cake, Homemade Lasagna, Chicken Pot-Pie, her special Toss Salad, Banana Pudding and Lemon Pound Cake.

Hazel accepted Christ as her Savior and joined St. Peters Apostolic Holiness Church of Apex, NC, under the leadership of Elder Grady McKey, where she remained faithful. She loved God and she loved her family. She lived a life that was pleasing to God and a blessing to others.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd Smith Sr. and Ciddie Bullock. She leaves to cherish her memories; her son LaDonte Smith (Shawonna) of Garner, NC. her daughter; Diamond Williams (Shon) of Morrisville, NC. Three grandchildren; Kingston Smith, Justice Smith and Tarrence Moore of Garner, NC. Four sisters; Margaret Kizer (David) of Raleigh, NC, Brenda Burt of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Rosa Baker of Angier, NC, Christy Baker (McArthur) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Four brothers; Lloyd Smith Jr. (Cynthia) of Wendell, NC, Anthony Smith, Sr. (Jessie) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Michael Smith of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Timothy Smith, Sr. of Willow Springs, NC; her uncles; Robert McNeil Jr. and Roger McNeil; her Aunts Linda Carroll (Bobby) of Lillington, NC, Minnie Laws (Elbert) of Raleigh, NC, and Helen Evans of New Hill, NC; Twenty-two (22) nieces and nephews; Thirty-Five (35) great-nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.

Visitation: 12:00 - 1:00 pm Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.

Graveside service: 2:30 pm Sunday, March 10, 2024, at St. Peter's Church Cemetery, 5607 Sunset Lake Road Holly Springs, NC 27540.
