Samuel Albert Byers, born on August 4, 1930, bid farewell to this world on March 2, 2024, in High Point, NC. Born to Walter and Mary Byers, both of whom preceded him in death. Samuel was also preceded in death by six siblings.
Samuel's commitment to serving his country was evident through his tenure in the US Navy from 1947 to 1951 and later in the US Air Force from 1958 to 1959. His patriotism was unwavering.
However, his passion for education defined much of his life. He retired as a distinguished professor from Forsyth Technical Community College and North Carolina A&T State University. Samuel left an indelible mark on countless students. He graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Physics from North Carolina A&T State University in 1962, followed by his Master's degree in Engineering in 1975.
In his departure Samuel leaves a legacy of service, love, and an enduring dedication to education that will continue inspiring future generations. He was a devout Christian who kept his faith until the end, finding solace and strength in his beliefs. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Almetta Byers, and his children, Howard (Wanda) Alexander and Monique (Larry) Clowers, along with grandchildren, James, Monica, Montrell (Angela), Mariah, and Marcus Alexander. He took great joy in spoiling all of his grandchildren, showering them with love and affection.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Piedmont, SC.
