Catherine Lena Webb, 86 of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Levine & Dickson Hospice Home in Charlotte. A native of Spartanburg County, SC, she was born on February 19, 1938 to the late Sarah Artison Webb and Floyd Webb. She was preceded in death, along with her parents by sisters Margaret Webb Canty, Lillian Webb Young and brothers Leonard Webb, John Webb, Lawrence Webb, Sr. Horace Webb, Sr. and Joseph Webb, Sr.
She is remembered with adoration by her loving daughter Dawn Mitchell-Stevens (Hillard), a granddaughter Danielle Mitchell-Roach (Rondel), two great granddaughters Serenity Roach and Aiya Mitchell, one great grandson Rondel Roach Jr., a sister Elizabeth Webb Franks, a brother Rosevelt Webb, sister-in-laws Henrietta Webb and Judy Webb, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends who loved and admired Mom, Nana, Aunt Catherine or Aunt Cathy.
Known for her feisty nature and sharp tongue Catherine was a joy to be around. A very determined woman, she adored her family and was very proud and supportive of them. A very spiritual woman she enjoyed reading her bible and attending Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte until her health no longer allowed her to be an active member. Catherine, enjoyed being outside working in her yard and gardening, or taking walks for exercise. She also loved spending time with close friends and shopping. Catherine loved music and enjoyed listening to Gospel, Smooth Jazz and Motown.
Ms. Webb received her education in the Spartanburg County school system and desired to continue learning, making the bold move to New York to attend college and earn her degree. After college Catherine stayed in New York and began her professional career. Eventually the desire to raise her daughter in a quieter environment and strengthen ties to her family led to a return south. She landed her career defining job with General Electric as a business manager where she remained until retiring. Catherine leaves a legacy of spiritual devotion and self improvement through hard work and education which she passed on to her family. She was a protector, always concerned about the health and well being of her daughter, granddaughter and great grandchildren. Although we feel an immense loss, we are blessed to carry and amplify our most fond and dear memories of Catherine forever.
Funeral Services will be held at Foster Chapel Baptist Church in Roebuck, SC on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 12:00 noon. Burial will be immediately following the service at Heritage Memorial Gardens in Roebuck, SC.
