Richard L. Phillips, 83, of Columbus, GA passed Friday, March 8, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, Hatchechubbee, AL with Rev. Miriam Harlen, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Friday, March 15, 2024 from 1 - 5 p.m. EST.

Richard Phillips was born October 16, 1940, to the late Richard and Charlotte Phillips. He was the first child of ten children born to this union. Richard attended Russell County High School. After high school, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he resided for many years.

Richard met his wife, Helen Marie Harvey in Tuskegee, Alabama to this union two children were born. In 1964, he began his career and became a material truck driver for General Motors, Cleveland, Ohio. He loved working out, cooking, entertaining and spending time with family/ friends.

His faith in God and strength never wavered throughout his health journey. He accepted God's will for his life with grace and never doubted God's plan. He was an inspiration to everyone.

Richard is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Fears and brother, Willie James Phillips as well as a baby brother at birth.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories to his loving daughter, Kimberley Phillips - Cleveland (Eric) of Atlanta, Georgia; caring son, Mark Phillips of Akron, Ohio; two grandsons, Darryl Moore of Silver Springs, MD and Tyler King of Cleveland, OH; granddaughter, Lunden Underwood, Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandsons, Darryl Moore and HYN DRXX Moore; sister, Lucille Tarver of Columbus, Georgia; five brothers, Walter Phillips and Crawford Phillips of Cleveland, Ohio; Jobe (Denise) Phillips , Jesse(Wanda) Phillips and Christopher (Yolanda) Phillips, of Phenix City, Alabama; A devoted niece, Qundia (Demarco Ragland) of Midland, GA; and a host of family and friends.
