Frank “Johnny” Ervin Mitchell

Frank Ervin Mitchell "Johnny" was born on September 26,
1952 to the late Mr. Willie Mitchell Sr. and Late Minnie Mitchell.

Frank joined the Army National Guard at 18 and served until the age of 42. At the age of 26, he became an employee of Levi's Strauss and Company, where he fell in love with his wife Sheryl Benjamin and worked there until there closure in 1998. At that time, he began Frank's Lawn Care and later became an employee of Jacuzzi. until his health began to fail him in 2017. He was a hard worker, loved his kids, and will forever live in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his wife, the late Sheryl Benjamin Mitchell; both parents, father/mother-in-love, Charlie and Henrietta Benjamin; two sisters, Minnie Mae Stewart, Clearetha "Weasel" Cason: one brother, Freddie Lee Mitchell: brothers-in-love, Don Peterson, Calvin Benjamin, Willie C. Benjamin, Charlie Benjamin, Jr.; sisters-in-love, Sara Benjamin, Jackie Benjamin; one stepdaughter, Tanya Richardson; and nieces, Patricia Ann Howard, Kierra Howard, Barbara Ann Mitchell-Arnold. Frank leaves to cherish his memories four sons, Derrick Dwayne Mitchell, Roderick Smith, Frank (Erin) Mitchell, Jr, Trevis Stibbins; four daughters, Tamira Griffin, Erin (Bernard) Robinson, Ebony Benjamin, Tori Stibbins; two sisters, Lizzie Peterson and Shelley Howard; four brothers, Willie (Christine) Mitchell, Jr., Eddie Mitchell, and Paul Mitchell, Sr.; brothers-in-love, Reginald (Tina) Benjamin, Joseph (Connie) Benjamin. sisters-in-love, Patricia Turner of Warner Robins, GA, Willene Abbott of Detroit, MI, Rhetta Lee (Cessor) Houston, Charlie Mae Brown, Jean Benjamin, Sharon (John) Merriweather, all of Valdosta, GA; grandsons, Jordan Christian Mitchell, Derrick Monteion Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Eli Mitchell, Rashad Copeland, Tralen Johnson, Bi'Ron Johnson, Bernard Robinson, III, Malachi Robinson, Tre' Juan Stibbins, Destin Stibbins: granddaughters, Kayla Mylin Mitchell, Takeya Smith, Londyn Martin, Evie Mitchell, Anasia Stibbins, Rylee Washington, Rianne Williams, Carmen Stibbins, Trinity Stibbins; four Great Grandchildren, Kalani Copeland, Kinsley Copeland, Zari Copeland, Aiden Copeland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.


A celebration of life will be Saturday, March 8, 2024 at 11AM at Greater Pleasant Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA with Pastor Bernard Robinson, officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
