Patricia Mangum Beckwith

Passed 03/09/2024

Patricia Ann Mangum Beckwith, affectionately known as “Pat,” was born to the late Hoover Frank and Stella Tate Mangum on November 24, 1952, in Apex, NC. After a battle with Alzheimer’s and with her family by her side, God called her to eternal rest on March 9, 2024.

Pat was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Alicia Mangum; bonus son, Larry Beckwith; one sister, Brenda Mangum; and two brothers, Charles Mangum and Hoover Lee Mangum.

Pat was a graduate of Broughton High School. After nearly 20 of years working for Acme Dry-cleaning Service in downtown Raleigh, she went back to school and obtained her associate degree in early childhood education from Wake Technical Community College. In 2002, she opened Earth Angels Childcare where she loved, nurtured, and fed many children.

Pat was a faithful member of Apex First Baptist Church where she served on the Pastoral Search Committee and the Usher board. She loved God, and you could always find her listening to her favorite song, “Something About the Name Jesus,” by The Rance Allen Group. Pat enjoyed worshiping with her church family and her Pastor, Reverend Frankie McLean.

Pat was known for her unwavering kindness and generosity towards others. She touched countless lives with her compassionate spirit and selfless acts of thoughtfulness. Whether it was lending a listening ear, offering a helping hand, feeding anyone with a home-cooked meal, or nurturing children at “Earth Angels Childcare.” Pat had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Her legacy of goodness and kindness will live in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Pat leaves to rejoice: her loving and devoted husband, Deacon James C. Beckwith; one son, Darryl Mangum of Raleigh, NC; two daughters, Marshika Mangum-Judd (Christopher) of Erwin, NC, and Melony Mangum of Holly-Springs, NC; four bonus daughters, Sandra Glenn, Marcella Phillips, Vanishia Linebarger, and Alvera Stewart; two bonus sons, Leroy Linebarger and James Stewart; two sisters, Evangelist Dorothy Easton (Harrison) of Apex, NC, and Regina Farrar (Ernest) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two brothers, Larry Mangum (Teresa) and Frantonio Brunson, both of Apex, NC; two aunts, Elander Tate (Tommy Lee) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Edna Tate of Apex, NC; two uncles, Robert Tate and Quincy Tate both of Brooklyn, New York; two very special friends, Frances Evans of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Janet Jones of Raleigh, NC; and Pat had a host of other loving relatives and friends, but one of her favorite roles was that of being “Grandma Pat.” She embraced being a grandma to 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren whom she adored and always supported.
