Ms. Journee D'Ann Dumas

Passed 03/11/2024

Journee D’Ann Dumas, a beautiful and vibrant young lady, blessed the world with her presence on January 9, 2008, to Christian Rejoice Dumas and Quincy Thomas in Winston Salem, NC. On Monday, March 11, 2024, at the age of 16 years, 2 months, and 2 days, She went home to be with the Lord. Despite her short time on earth, she left a legacy of kindness, joy, and love that will never be forgotten.

Journee was a 10th-grade student at Cornerstone Charter Academy, where she was on the honor roll. However, a week after her 14th birthday, she was hospitalized. Doctors diagnosed her with cardiomyopathy, a disease that makes it harder for the blood to pump to the rest of the body. Journee needed a new heart, and she finally received one on April 30, 2022. Then, Journee knew she wanted to become a nurse to save lives.

Journee was a cheerful person who enjoyed dancing and laughing. She found everything to be hilarious! However, spending time with her family was her greatest joy. She was a member of Word of Life Ministries and loved attending church. Above all, she loved God with all her heart.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her mother, Christian Rejoice Dumas of the home; her father, Quincy Thomas of High Point, NC; one sister, Nazaria Thomas; and two brothers, Adonis English, and Kyrie Thomas-Dumas, who was not only her little brother, but also her best friend. She loved her maternal grandparents, William (Nut) and Brenda Dumas, and her paternal grandparents, Andrew (and the late Barbara Ann) Thomas. Her aunts and uncles, including Corey J. Davis, were also very special to her. Special Cousins, Brianna Davis, Brandi Davis, and Kailyn Tate. She will be dearly missed by several other family members, other cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Word of Life Tabernacle Church, 1801 Deep River Road. Entombment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
