Cheryl Stubbs McLeod was called to receive her heavenly wings on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 at Atrium Health Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Cheryl, the daughter of the late Richard and Marie Stubbs, was born January 3rd, 1959, in Red Springs, North Carolina.

Cheryl accepted Christ early in life and joined Mack’s Chapel AME Church in Red Springs, North Carolina. She remained a devoted member until she started her professional endeavors in Anson County, North Carolina.

Cheryl was educated in the public schools of Robinson County, graduating from Red Springs Senior High School with honors. She would go on to further her education at Fayetteville State University, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree and Pembroke State University, receiving her Master’s degree.

Cheryl began her teaching career at Morven Elementary school and continued educating the Anson County community for over thirty years. During her tenure, she earned the distinguished honor of being National Board Certified. Cheryl was also named Teacher of the Year, Woman of the Year, and a plethora of other professional accomplishments during her esteemed career.

On June 23, 1990, God united Cheryl with her soulmate Michael McLeod whom she affectionately called Mac in holy matrimony. Their union spanned Thirty-Three years and was filled with unflappable love and unwavering devotion. Cheryl served as the First Lady of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Morven, North Carolina and Elizabeth Pee Dee Baptist Church in Lilesville, North Carolina. As First Lady she spearheaded the health, youth, and senior citizen ministry which was near and dear to her heart.

Along with her parents Richard and Marie Stubbs, she is preceded in death by her brothers Leon Patterson and Richard Allen Stubbs III.

In addition to her loving husband, Cheryl leaves to honor her legacy and cherish her memories one son, Matthew McLeod of Wadesboro, North Carolina, and daughter Michelle McLeod of Statesboro, Georgia; three sisters, Carolyn Dorsey, Rita Stubbs, and Lisa Stubbs Johnson, all of Red Springs, North Carolina; one brother Bill Stubbs of Red Springs, North Carolina; A special nephew Jermaine Stubbs, who was reared in the home, 3 brothers-in-law, 5 sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

The Services to Honor the Life, Legacy and Contributions of First Lady McLeod will be on Saturday, March 16, 2024, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of Westview Memorial Park.

The McLeod Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1:30-2:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.

The public viewing will be on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 3:30-5:30pm.
