In Loving Memory of Alberta Norris

Born on April 6, 1942, in the small town of Belzoni, Mississippi, Alberta Norris passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024, at her home in Farrell, PA. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and wisdom.

Alberta cherished her role as a homemaker, dedicating her life to raising her children and others by providing them with warmth and guidance. She found joy in simple pleasures like fishing with her husband, entertaining loved ones, and imparting her love and wisdom onto her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a fondness for the color purple and a perchance for beautiful flowers, appreciating the essence they represent.

Alberta was the epitome of the virtuous woman Solomon spoke of in Proverbs. She poured unconditional love, high expectations and discipline into generations who will bear witness of her strength. While she may have birthed six naturally, she was a mother to many others supernaturally. One of her signature statements "Don't let the streetlight catch you" was an edict to be home before dark.

Throughout her life, Alberta's delicious homemade cakes, cornbread, and pinto beans were legendary, embodying the love she poured into every dish. She also enjoyed playing the lotto and scratch-offs, adding an element of excitement to her days.

Alberta is survived by her devoted husband, James Norris, her daughters Patricia Norris, Renee Norris, Angie Norris, Sheila Goodrich, and Rebecca Tyler, her son James Arthur Jones, her brother Richard Jones, and her 19 grandchildren including Michael & Tyree which she raised and nurtured, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.

Alberta takes her place among the ancestors, where she is reunited with those preceding her in death which includes her parents, Willie & Mary (Sullivan) Jones, her siblings Rosa Lee Phillips, Sarah Lee Bates, Willie Mae Phillips, Florence Young, Mattie Lee Jones, Alfred Lee Jones, Robert Lee Jones, Harry Lee Jones and Willie Jones, her grandson Mark and ten great grandchildren.

Alberta Norris was a beacon of love, hope and strength, and she will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
