Moore, SC – Sam Edward Copeland, 80, peacefully entered rest on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Sam was a native of Buffalo, SC; he was the son of the late Mrs. Bessie Ann Osborne Copeland and the late Ernest Irving Copeland. For 58 years, Mr. Copeland was the devoted husband of Mrs. Pamela Willes Copeland. Copeland was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. He faithfully served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Usher. He was also a member of the ACTS Class. Sam’s community involvements included membership in the Inman Lions Club and the Breakfast Optimist Club. Professionally, Sam had an extensive career as an insurance underwriter with Sam Copeland Insurance. Copeland served in the United States Air Force at Chicksands Air Force Base in Bedfordshire, England. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his wife, Pam; his children, Mitchell “Mitch” (Cindy) Copeland of Spartanburg, SC, Andy (Donna) Copeland of Snellville, GA and Susan (Danny) Holcombe of Moore, SC; grandchildren, Paige and Aimee Copeland, Rion and Molly Holcombe; step-grandson, Jason Slaten; step-great grandson, Mathew Slaten; his brother, Harold (Brenda) Copeland of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law, John (Carolina) Willes of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Angela Willes of Glenn Springs, SC. A Celebration of Life in Honor of Sam E. Copeland will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S. Pine St., The Reverend Dr. Kirk H. Neely will officiate. Friends and family visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center of the church. Mr. Copeland will lie in state at Morningside Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S.
