Ms. Elaine Dianetta Robinson was born March 4, 1951 to the late George S. Robinson, Sr. and the late Mary Eliza Wright Robinson and departed this life suddenly, March 16, 2024 at VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. She was also preceded in death by her siblings- Lucy Johnson, Algie “Trent” Robinson and George “Mutt” Robinson, Jr.
At an early age she was baptized and joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Macon, NC. She attended faithfully and sung in the choir.
Elaine attended Cotton Creek Elementary School and graduated from the former East End High School in 1969. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Danville Community College in Data Processing.
She later moved to Richmond, VA and began working as a Computer Tech for Southern States Cooperation until she retired in 2017.
Elaine treasured life and people. She really adored her daughter, Leslie and grandson, Travon; they were her heart, and she would do any and everything for them. She believed there was no event nor trip that she could miss. “Let’s go,” was one of her mottos. She was an encourager and a supporter. If anyone came to her with something they wanted to do, she would say, “go for it” and “what can I do to help.” Elaine was also a talker. If you called her or visited, you better have some time because she was never in a hurry. She loved everything nature, working in the gardens, working in the yard, and interior decorating.
Again, Elaine loved people, if you name them all, you probably get tired and run out of paper because everyone she met, she tried to keep in contact with them. To name a few: Pastor Charles Faulcon and family- who Elaine adopted as her family at their first meeting, Mr. John R. King and family- who were like sisters and brothers, her Southern States Family, Leon’s Family, Deborah Coleman and her hair stylist- Selma Johnson, Wesley and Laura Carrington, the Jackson Family, last but not least, the East End High School Class of 1969.
Elaine is survived by her devoted daughter- Leslie Robinson, Boydton, VA; her loving grandson- Travon Robinson (Dy’mon) Suffolk, VA; friend of the home-Leon Johnson, Richmond, VA; five sisters- Ernestine Baskerville, Richmond, VA; Maxine Robinson (Joe), Warrenton, NC; Janet Robinson (Clyde), and LaGretta (Robert) Carter, all of Wise, NC, and Pamela (Wayne) Hicks, Boydton, VA; five brothers- James (Deborah) Robinson, Chesterfield, VA; William (Daphne) Robinson, Boydton, VA; Reginald Robinson (LaVerne), Boydton, VA; Michael (Renae) Robinson, Woodbridge, VA; Mark Robinson, Boydton, VA; sister-in-law, Yvonne Robinson, Boydton, VA; aunts and uncles- Carrie Ritter, Mt. Vernon, NY; Otis and Margaret Talley, Baltimore, MD; Cornelia Harcum, Philadelphia, PA; Tom and Anna Boards, Matawan, NJ, and Jacquelin Rush, Dover, DE. Elaine has 21 nieces and nephews she called “My Boy and My Girl.” There were two special nieces that were her heart- Ashlee Simone, whom she reared and was her riding and eating partner and Demetra Williams, who participated closely with her care, came to her side when she called and brought her most anything she said she wanted. She was also survived by a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
