Napoleon “Poke” Baxter was born on April 25, 1941 in Spartanburg County, SC. He was the son of the late Ms. Freddie Baxter. Mr. Baxter departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
“Poke” loved laughing, talking, fishing and watching Western movies.
He retired from Arrow Automotive.
Napoleon was proceeded in death by: his mother, Freddie Baxter; his son, Mike McKinney; his brother, Calvin Baxter; and three sisters, Mary Helen Baxter, Lovie Mae Phillips and Rosa Jane O’Fair.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his sons, Trae Brewton, Undray Baxter and Roy Phillips all of South Carolina; his daughters, Sandra Funderburk and Tina Nash both of SC; his brothers, Riley Baxter (Mae) of Inman, SC, Ronnie Baxter of Rock Hill, SC and Lonnie Baxter of Cheverly, MD and Gary Baxter of Chesnee, SC; his sisters, Myra Phillips (Billy) of Caroleen, NC, Hazel Hamrick of Chesnee, SC and Freda Baxter of Shelby, NC; brother-in-law, Luther O’Fair of Mayo, SC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A Celebration of the Life of Napoleon Baxter will be held on Saturday March 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, Chesnee, SC. Burial will be in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery, Forest City, NC.
