Muriel Stewart George

11/06/1938 - 03/20/2024

In 1938, loving husband and wife, Willie Love Stewart and Hattie Bell Lynn Stewart had one son “Bill” Stewart; on November 6, in Kings County Brooklyn, New York they grew their family of three to welcome their daughter Muriel Stewart.

She departed peacefully on March 20, 2024 with her daughter Karen by her side.

From an early age, Muriel has always loved and was involved in the church. At the age of nine, she attended Sunday School and became involved in the senior Choir and the Girl Scouts under the leadership of Re. James B. Adams and later Pastor Dr. Rev. Gardner C. Taylor. Muriel attended school in New York. Upon graduation from high school, she began working as an underwriter for MetLife Insurance Company. She retired in 2000.

In 1953, Muriel met Robert Edward George and later in 1956 they were married in Concord Baptist Church by Dr. Rev. Taylor. To this union three children were born: Debra, Karen and Derek. Those children bore her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Tara, Lena, Jason, Derek, Tracey and Elliott, Jaylen and Stacy.

Muriel’s famous pastimes were grocery shipping for her love of cooking and volunteering with the Boy Scouts at Kelly Chapel. Muriel has touched the lives if many people she encountered throughout life’s journey.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents (Willie and Hattie Bell) and brother (Willie “Bill”).

In her passing she leaves loving memories with her loving children, grand children and great grands; sisters-in-laws Lavern and Jennifer; her beloved great nieces & nephews.

She will truly be missed.
