Mrs. Sandra Phillips-Pirtle, 71, of Seale, AL passed Monday, April 1, 2024 in Seale, AL.

Funeral service to be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 14970 U.S. Hwy 280 W, Smiths Station, AL, with Rev. Tommy Davis, pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Public viewing Monday, April 8, 2024 from 12 - 5 p.m. EST.

Mrs. Sandra Lee Phillips-Pirtle was born January 16, 1953 in Smiths Station AL., to the late Willie Lee Phillips and Jessie Mae Calloway Phillips. Sister Pirtle, a devoted servant of the Lord peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Monday, April 1, 2024, at her home in Seale, AL. She was 70 years old. Sister Pirtle accepted Christ at an early age at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J.H. Flakes II. Sandra Pirtle later changed her membership to New Jerusalem MBC under the leadership of Rev. J.H. Hall/Rev. Tommy L. Davis.

On March 13, 1981 Sandra Pirtle was united in Holy Matrimony to James Melvin Pirtle Sr., a soldier from Fort Benning, Georgia. In marriage, Sandra traveled across the United States and Germany. Sandra returned to Phenix City in 1996 where she began her career as a Nursing Assistant for over 20 years. In 2002, Sandra moved to First Tabernacle Baptist Church with her husband as he accepted the call to Pastorship. Sister Pirtle was the songbird and President of the choir at First Tabernacle Baptist Church. She released an album titled “His Name Is Jesus”. Sister Pirtle performed alongside gospel artists across the southeast during her time here on earth. She enjoyed and cherished her family as well as her church family. Where ever she was the atmosphere was filled with soulful singing giving praise to the Lord. Sandra was preceded in death by her father Willie Lee Phillips; aunt, Mary Love Cook; brother, Michael Phillips; sister, Barbara Pirtle; stepdaughter, Latasha Randle.

Her legacy will always be cherished by a loving, caring and devoted husband of 43 years James Pirtle Sr.; a loving Mother, Jessie Mae Phillips of Smiths Station AL.; five children, Frenandez Phillips of Phenix City, AL, stepson Jason Coleman(Renee) of Milwaukee WI., James Pirtle, Jr. of Seale AL., Frederick (Martranice) Pirtle of Phenix City, Sidra Pirtle of Columbus Ga.; six brothers, Willie E. Phillips of Smiths Station, Donnie Phillips of Smiths Station, Roosevelt Phillips of Phenix City, Lamar (Carol) Phillips of Smith Station, Denver Phillips of Smiths Station, AL, Keith Phillips of Phenix City, AL; three sisters, Jessie D. Hardison of Smiths Station, AL, Tracy Phillips of Phenix City, AL, Merica McCune of Smiths Station, AL; uncle, Charles Cook of Motts, AL., sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
