Mrs. Anita Evon Colson-Alsbrooks

Anita Evon Colson Alsbrooks, also known as “Evon”, transitioned from this life on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Atrium Health Union, Monroe, NC. Evon was born in Wadesboro, NC on July 2, 1964, to the late Billy Gene Colson and Juretha Watson Colson.

Anita attended Anson County Schools. She furthered her education at Anson Community College/South Piedmont Community College, Guilford Technical Community College, and Gardener Webb University where she obtained multiple degrees in Social Services, Emergency Medical Services, and Medical Assisting. She was employed by Carolina Urology as a Medical Assistant.

Anita loved her family, shopping, traveling, and her church. She was active in her community. Anita was President of Zeta Amicae of Monroe, NC and Recording Secretary of Zeta Amicae of NC. She was the financial secretary of Lane Creek Missionary Baptist Association, President of Pastor’s Aide and member of the Mass and Women’s Choirs at Greater Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Parson.

Anita leaves to cherish her dear memories, her husband of 23 years, Wesley Alsbrooks of the home; one daughter, Shonte’ J. Colson Polk (Luther) of the home; one fur baby, Malachi; three grandchildren, A’Destine, Aniyah, and Arriyanna all of Monroe, NC; one grand fur baby, Mejor; her mother, Juretha Watson Colson of Wadesboro, NC, two sisters, Debbie of Wadesboro, NC and Cathy (Tocques) of Lilesville, NC; one stepdaughter, Talakie Drakes (Phillip) of Texas; one sister-in-law, Shelia Funderburk (Boyce) of Monroe, NC; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Alsbrooks, and Alex Alsbrooks (Vontavious) all of Monroe, NC; four aunts, Mary McLean (Howard), Rosia Chambers both of Wadesboro, NC, Shirley Ingram of High Point, NC and Phadiona Colson of Charlotte, NC; two uncles, William Watson (Olive) of Lilesville NC, James Thomas Watson of New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The Services to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Colson-Alsbrooks will be on Sunday, April 14, 2024, 1:00pm, Greater Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 3607 Andrew Jackson Drive, Waxhaw, North Carolina 28173. Interment will be private.

The Colson-Alsbrooks Family will greet family and friends on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 12:15-1:00pm at Greater Blessed Hope Baptist Church and at all other times at the family residence.

The public viewing will be on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 1:00-4:00pm.
