Obituary For Gertrude Carson

SPARTANBURG, SC -- Mrs. Gertrude Lindsey Carson, 90, of 711 Farley Ave., peacefully entered rest on Friday, March 27, 2015. Mrs. Carson was the daughter of the late Fred and Eva Young Lindsey. She was the widow of Mr. Tommy Carson. Sister Carson was a devoted member of Greater St. James Temple Holiness Church where she faithfully served with the following ministries: choir, Usher Board, Pastor's Aide, President of the Missionary Society and the Singles Ministry. Left to cherish fond memories are: her eight loving children, Willie D. (Liz) Carson of Spartanburg, SC, Bobby J. (Dorothy) Carson of Spartanburg, SC, Claude (Mattie) Carson of Spartanburg, SC, James (Annie) Carson of Columbia, SC, Lovie Bates of Spartanburg, SC, Howard Carson of the home, Lorene (Calvin) Brown of Augusta, GA, Evelyn (Larry) Turner of Simpsonville, SC; 16 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Mrs. Carson was preceded in death by her daughter, Lillie Brown, and her brother-in-law, Gerald D. Bates. A Celebration of the Life of Gertrude Lindsey Carson will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Greater St. James Temple Holiness Church, 13255 Asheville Hwy, Inman, SC at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held in the Good Shepard Memorial Park, 4164 Highway 9, Boiling Springs, SC. Reverend Richard Landrum will officiate. Friend and Family will be held at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 5:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. The family is at the home of her daughter, Lovie Bates, 136 Franklin Ave., Spartanburg, South Carolina.
